Tucked away in the rural backwoods of the Hessarghatta, near Bangalore, India, is a wonderful tool called Nrityagram "(Dance Village) and ANNEXE, Kuteeram" (The housing). The road to this little bit of heaven is a mud-brick one, amid a thick Grove of Jack-fruit, coconut, betel-nuts and banana plantations. Farms and villages surrounding this peaceful island. Pure luck, under the guise of my friend's excitement, and some design our visit Nrityagram Sunday did.
Nrityagram is the dream child of the famous Odissi danseuse, Ms. Protima Bedi, (who died in an avalanche on how Mansarovar). You don't have to be an expert to visit this paradise for the culturally inclined artistes and dance. This area is not only a "Gurukul" who imbibes ancient Indian traditions of students stay with the master, is also an architectural delight. Stone and brick walls, landscaped rock gardens, wrought iron chairs, fountains and a waddling goose parade, I congratulate this extremely Peaceful zone, ideal for Meditation, dance, pray and live a life free of stress. The material used to build this wonderful cultural village is all locally available and combines a form of ethnic, Western and modern appearance.
Nrityagram has three "ashrams" teaching three different Indian classical dance forms: Bharatnatyam and Kathak, Odissi, and, of course. We were impressed to see how thoroughly the gurus dance teaching children from neighbouring villages. Here, children and adults live, stay, learn dance and even academics. Poor children are encouraging, and those who pretend to be promise go higher education such as medicine and engineering. This feature is a refreshing change from thos e profit, money-oriented excluisive pockets, serving only the rich. Those who wish to master any of the forms of dance live here for a period of 4 years or so.
A part of the decline has been hired at a hotel, which accommodates guests, on prior request, a buffet lunch doors of luxury. We travel itinerary a range of shell ranging from salads, pasta, rice, vegetarian and lip smacking Mughlai food also. We had to force ourselves to make space in our tummies to tasty butterscotch ice cream, gulab jamun or kheer, "cham cham. Thereafter, we took a little stroll, admires the walking trails, rooms available for rent lease (charming cottages, with room numbers written with iron art held), manicured lawns, and stopped by to see a group of students of management by a local management Institute, playing "Dumb Charades" and later some active sports.
We had our Sunday in this extreme haven of peace, away from the chaos of life in the city, turmoil and angst. If Anyone is looking for a short break away from worldly troubles, then I would recommend "nrityagram and adjoining complex" Kuteeram "in the list of options. Welcome to the Lady called Protima Bedi who had the vision, courage and spirit to transform their dreams into reality. The best part of the dream is to ideas of charity and share knowledge ... which is the largest ever gift.
An opportunity to visit this wonderful sacred dance, unfolded many joys. Anyone with a keen eye for nature, beauty and art will love this place. In this article, I tried my best to present a first hand account of my experience in Nrityagram.
